Boylan Development - Manager Elected to Southeast Regional Task Force for USGBC

(Raleigh, N.C.)— Boylan Companies, a local leading organization providing a seamless range of comprehensive real estate services, is proud to announce that its Development Manager, Ben Yorker, has been elected to the Southeast Regionalization Task Force responsible for establishing region-specific criteria for the USGBC’s LEED for Neighborhood Development (LEED-ND) program.  His election comes as Boylan Development, along with Boylan Companies, strives to further its green building efforts in its projects throughout the southeastern region.

“It is an honor that a member of Boylan Companies has been chosen to serve in this capacity,” said Dusty Field, CEO of Boylan Companies. “Without a doubt, Ben will help to spur greater interest and participation from the real estate development and brokerage industry in matters relating to sustainable development practices and policy.”

Unlike the previous year, the selection process for the 2009 Task Force did not only include participants from USGBC chapters, but also from Congress for the New Urbanism (CNU) chapters, and representatives from Smart Growth America’s (SGA) State and Local Caucus.  Ultimately, the selection process has been tightened in a variety of ways to ensure representation from every constituency.

“Serving on this Task Force will provide the opportunity to research how conscientious building patterns can be tailored even further to maximize the benefit for our immediate environment,” said Ben Yorker, development manager of Boylan Companies’ development team. “I am grateful for this opportunity to participate.”

New regional task force members identify region-specific environmental nuances that deserve special attention in terms of planning and development priorities.  The Southeastern Region, for example, is includes nine states ranging from Virginia to Georgia and west to Arkansas.  In many cases, one region may be made up of fifteen or more “zones” that each have unique environmental challenges and/or pressures.

As development manager of Boylan Development Company, Yorker directs staff and consultants in the analysis, design and construction for multi-family and mixed-use projects as well as spearheads multiple green initiatives for the company. He currently is on the Board of Directors for the Triangle Chapter of USGBC and holds over ten years of professional real estate experience throughout the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic regions.  For complete information about all the many facets of Boylan Companies, please visit www.boylancompanies.com.
